Postcomm to hold public meeting in Enniskillen
10 April 2002
Postcomm, the postal services regulator, is to hold a public meeting at Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, on Monday 22 April. The meeting, which will be led by Martin Stanley, chief executive of Postcomm, will be held in the Town Hall and start at 8 pm.
Postcomm is proposing to open up 30% of Consignia’s business to competition this year, with a further 30% in 2004, followed by a fully competitive postal service by 2006. It also is required to seek to ensure the provision of a universal postal service throughout the UK at a uniform tariff. Mr Stanley said today:
“The aim of all our public meetings is to listen. At our meeting in Belfast last month, a number of people, including members of Fermanagh District
Council, requested a further meeting in an area west of the Bann. Some people also wanted a later start so that more members of the general public could come along after they finished work. We are happy to accede to these requests and grateful to Fermanagh District Council for making the Town Hall available for this meeting, where we will explain our proposals and listen to the concerns of the community, so they can be taken into account before any decisions are made”
