Postcomm not "ready to retreat"
5 March 2002
The Postal Services Commission (Postcomm) has noted speculation in today’s press that it is preparing to water down its proposals for the introduction of competition to postal services.
Postcomm’s competition proposals were published on 31 January. The consultation period does not end until 15 March. Submissions from the main interested parties are not expected until close to the deadline. Postcomm will consider its response after the consultation period has ended, not before.
Postcomm remains committed to the introduction of competition. We believe that this will prove to be in the best interests of the users of postal services, and of Consignia.
